CLASS FORMATION 2023

We are currently planning our 2023 class structures. This is an intensive process that we take great care with to ensure that the needs of your child are met.

In determining your child's placement for 2023, consideration will be given to gender, the previous class, each child’s ability,  behaviour and friendship groups etc. Individual needs and a whole school perspective will be considered. Please see our Class Formation Policy on the website.

All parental input must be directed to the Principal and placed in writing by FRIDAY October 28 2022 so that Class Formation can occur before the end of term. Reasonable

requests based on educational grounds will be communicated to staff prior to the  formation of classes. Once draft classes are completed, the Principal will make any necessary final alterations. Thankyou for your understanding.

BIKE ED:

All our grade 5 /6 students are participating in our 5 week Bike Ed Program - lots of skills are taught including: the slow ride, figure of eight riding, riding around cones (and not through them) and an endurance ride. In the last week we plan to have a whole group ride down to the river! This is always a fun morning - riding as a group is different to riding solo.

Kilometre Club:

Kilometre Club continues every day at 8.45am (unless its really raining). All laps undertaken by students are added up and there are Certificates presented in Assembly for 5 km, 10km, 20, 30, 40km, right up to 100km! Would you believe a few students are close to100km of running!

I love it when something we do at school that translates to family holidays:

The McPherson family have been on a 5 week Darwin - Melbourne Road trip and instead of running around our oval they have knocked out 15km (in the Uluru heat) on push bikes around the rock!

Holly and Lewis both agree that their efforts at Kilometre Club in the mornings at school helped prepare them  for this very special experience!

"Under a bright blue sky, it was hot, and the earth changed from hard rock to soft sand all the way around. It was sometimes hard to keep your wheels moving through the sand, but we didn't give up. We didn't want to miss any of the nature or aboriginal stories around every corner. Even in the hot sun, Holly's little legs and learning spirit got her to the finish line. It was something we'll remember forever." - Lewis.

Well done Holly and Lewis!

I have been up there a number of times, mainly running Secondary school camps and Uluru just has such a magical feel about it -we are lucky to visit!

Excursions:

Today our Prep students have gone on the bus to Edendale Farm for the day - the weather seems to have held up for them - I am sure they had a great day!

Sustainability:

Our Sustainability Team was invited to Currawong Park to spend the day today learning more about our local environment- we'll look forward to a full report next week.

Thanks Mrs Bailey and Mrs Dibb.

Lion King Junior:

There are some fairly tired jungle animals at school this week after 4 performances of the show last week!

Congratulations to the whole cast and crew for putting on such an amazing show- we know how hard you rehearsed. Specials thanks To Gavin Andrew for doing such a wonderful job and please see the Lion King Junior page in the newsletter for photos of the show (thanks to Jimmy Harris).

Regional Athletics Carnival:

Erin (5/6B) placed 9th of 16 in the girls 12-13 100m at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics carnival on Thursday at the Tom Kelly Athletics track in Doncaster.

Congratulations Erin!

Floods:

We are thinking of our friends and fellow schools who have been affected by the recent floods. Take care and stay safe.

ENROLMENTS:

Enrolments are still welcome for 2023. We are keen to receive enrolment forms as early as possible so we can plan for next year. Thank you so much.
