GLOBAL YOUTH DIALOGUE

We attended the Global Youth Dialogue at the 2022 Global Learning and Engagement Symposium on Thursday 18th of August.

This was an event for teachers and principals across the state, providing strategies and experiences to help implement a whole-school approach to global learning and engagement.

Jenson and Abigail hosted a panel of youth leaders who provided an insight into what it meant to be a global citizen (from a student’s perspective) and how we as a society can move towards being more globally aware.

Anastasia was part of this youth panel, where she had the opportunity to discuss global issues such as globalisation, poverty, and equality, all of which matter to us, and to students worldwide.

As a group, we explored what schools can do to help students become global citizens, and how we can encourage empathy, greater awareness and perspective within our classrooms.

We all had the opportunity to ask and answer questions and give our thoughts on global learning from not only a student perspective, but as representatives of Brighton Secondary College.

Overall, it was an incredible experience, and we were all extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to collaborate with other leaders from all over Victoria, and to have a say in the way in which we learn and work.
