From the Executive

Faith and Charism Office

Greetings from the Faith and Charism office. Over the past few weeks we have engaged in some exciting faith formation activities for our students and staff. On the last day of Term 3 the staff formation retreat took place and was hosted by Fr Rob Galea. It was a very reflective and enjoyable experience.

Our students have also taken part in retreats and a cohort of Year 10 students attended the Ignite Conference in Brisbane accompanied by Mr Cristiano Grosso, Mr Josh Hunter, Ms Claire Russo and Mr Anthony Yong. The students and staff had a great experience over the three-day event and gave up part of their September break.

We also celebrated Founders Mass, Mother’s Day Mass, Father’s Day Mass, and the Oblate of Mary Immaculate Anniversary Mass. It was such an enjoyable experience to be able to celebrate together again.

Our Social Justice Team have worked really hard organising and running Building Bridges which is a program developed to help young people of different faiths share their experiences and build unity with each other.

There are exciting developments happening in relation to a response to Pope Francis Encyclical letter Laudato Si and students are actively involved with other schools on important ecological issues.

There are four active youth faith groups led by volunteers who give of their time to conduct these groups. To Mr Robert Zaar who coordinates MAYO, to Ms Lydia St Ange who coordinates ALPHA , to the youth ministers who coordinate the senior and junior Oblate Youth Groups and the many teachers who volunteer to supervise for these groups.

I sincerely thank Fr Harry Dyer, Dr Paul Shannon, Fr Kevin Davine, Ms Tina Giacco (Liturgy), Mr Cristiano Grosso (Student and Staff Formation), Mr Josh Hunter (Social Justice) the management and staff, families, Parishes, and local organisations who generously support the faith development of our staff and students.

May God bless you all.

St. Eugene De Mazenod, Pray for us.

Mr John Tighe
