Learning is far more than just learning to read, write and do maths. Our philosophy is built around the most important part of our body - the brain! Our brains change shape as we learn and we believe one of the greatest gifts we can give our students is the knowledge that they can 'grow their brain', making it stronger and fitter throughout their entire life.
Water, healthy eating, exercise and sound sleep routines are well known tools we use to help us function at our best at Wollert but there is a whole lot more we can be doing. Emotion acceptance, body regulation and learning retention are key elements of what we focus on in our learning environments. We look forward to sharing our learning about the brain with you as we grow our learning partnerships, so that we can work together to grow your child's brain to be the strongest it can possibly be.
2023 School Hours are changing
2023 will bring some excitement as Wollert Secondary College opens up next to our school. While Wollert Secondary College is a separate school to us, we are intent on ensuring we work together as a community in meeting our families needs. To support this occurring, we have considered our current school times and how these will align to the pick up and drop off of students and siblings at both schools in 2023. At our recent School Council meeting, agreement and acceptance of the following changes to school times for 2023 occurred:
Learning time throughout the day remains the same with time reduced during our current lunch time. Our teams will instead ensure children continue to experience outside learning and social activity in other parts of the day. We will ensure communication about this is shared so that a clean start to 2023 occurs.
Our Canteen opens in Term 4
Our students have been eagerly awaiting the opening of our school canteen. We have been unable to provide this service due to the gymnasium and associated facilities not being complete until the early stages of this term.
The Canteen tender process and discussion about this service was a key School Council agenda item. We can share that our canteen service will open in Term 4!
We welcome JAYcees Catering to Wollert Primary School. The team at JAYcees are excited to join us in offering our community a service that will support the needs of our families. Due to the uncertainty of interest and use of the canteen at Wollert we are starting small. We will only begin with one day for Term 4 which will allow JAYcees to understand the needs and demand in our individual school context. This day is yet to be determined as it depends on JAYcees current staff availability, however this will be communicated via Compass very soon.
2023 and beyond we certainly expect to extend this canteen service to accommodate and support our community needs as they come to light.
If you have a PREP starting at WPS in 2023 your enrolment is late. Please contact our reception so we can include your child in our 2023 planning
