Week Three of our Lenten Journey - ‘Living Water’

This week’s readings are centered on Baptism and new life in Jesus. The notion of ‘living water’ represents God’s Spirit who comes to us in Baptism, penetrating every aspect of our lives and quenching our spiritual thirst. The Holy Spirit of God, the Word of God, and the Sacraments of God in the Church are the primary sources of the living water. We are called to drink this water of eternal life and salvation. Washed in it at Baptism, renewed by its abundance at each Eucharist, invited to it in the Word proclaimed and empowered daily by the Spirit in each of us, we remain thirsty for the living water, which only God can give.

Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water." Jesus said to her, "Go call your husband and come back"

(John 4:13-16).

Let us pray for those who are suffering from Coronavirus in our world today…

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages curing every disease and illness. At your command, the sick were made well.

Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the Coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

AMEN

Caritas Australia - Project Compassion Appeal

Throughout the last 3 weeks, students and their families have been making regular donations to Project Compassion in Homegroups. The theme this year is ‘Go Further Together’ reflecting the mission of the Church for solidarity with the poor and the stewardship of our most precious resources.

Spanning the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an example of extraordinary and ongoing demonstration of the faith.  With love and generosity Caritas Australia's caring supporters share their resources with those who need them most, all in the name of justice and peace. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold human dignity.

This week’s focus is thirty-two-year-old Sakun, who lives in a village in central-east India. She developed polio as a child and has difficulty walking. Until now Sakun, an Indigenous Gond woman, has been isolated in her community, unable to earn a livelihood and without knowledge of government schemes that could help her.

Please view the video clip of Sakun and her family.

Last week we offered a hot chip lunch for the Homegroup who contributed the most donations, the successful Homegroup was Sherrin 8. Thank you for your on-going support of charitable giving to Project Compassion and supporting our Homegroup challenge during Lent.

St Vincent de Paul Bushfire Appeal - Easter Raffle

This year our Easter Raffle is raising funds to support the St Vincent de Paul Bushfire Appeal, for regional families.

We encourage each student to support the Raffle by donating an Easter Egg to build the prizes.

Donations have been slowly trickling in and we encourage everyone to get behind this cause and contribute an item in the coming weeks. Raffle tickets have been sent out to families to sell for $1.00 each, please record your name and contact details on the tickets.

Once sold, please return these to the College Office. Students are encouraged to bring their donations into school and pass these onto their Homegroup Teacher. Thank you for your support!

Year 9 Retreat Programs Cancelled

We are saddened to confirm the cancellation of the Year 9 Boys and Girls Retreat Programs, scheduled to run in Week 9 and 11, respectively. The situation with COVID-19 is evolving quickly and with social distancing becoming a focus, we are acting on advice from the Government and from CEDWW to cancel school excursions. We appreciate the disappointment this will cause our students and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

This event has been cancelled on COMPASS and excursion fees charged to the School Fee Account Statement will be credited. Thank you for your understanding and support at this difficult time.
