Principals Report

Every five years, all Victorian Government Schools undertake a review, co-facilitated by the Department of Education and Training (DET). The purpose of this review is to:

  1. Identify whether targets, based on student learning, engagement and wellbeing, have been met. 
  2. Discuss the ‘enablers and barriers’ to meeting these targets. 
  3. Identifying ‘highlights’ across the period of the previous school strategic plan. 
  4. Secure compliance around policies and procedures.
  5. Develop goals and targets for the next strategic planning cycle. 

An important part of the process is broad consultation. Canvassing the thoughts and ideas of our students, staff and families will give us the best opportunity to both reflect on this past strategic planning cycle with accuracy and plan for the future with purpose. 

 

We have already begun this process with our staff, including interrogating our strategic plan goals and data targets in our staff meeting earlier this week. We identified the strategies that enabled success and also any possible barriers that we may have to overcome in the future. 

 

I would like to open an invitation to our families to contribute to the review process. We will utilise three different strategies to collect information from our school community:

  1. Morning tea and chat after drop-off.
    1. Thursday 26th May from 9:05am in the Gym.  Book tickets here 
  2. Online meeting after hours (linked into our regular Education Committee Meeting).
    1. Tuesday 31st May from 6:00pm link
  3. Online survey link

The purpose of these sessions (and the survey) will be consistent in identifying:

  1. Highlights from the current strategic planning cycle (2018 – 2022).
  2. Strategies that have enabled success in student learning and wellbeing outcomes.  
  3. Any barriers to our students having success in student learning and wellbeing. 
  4. Areas for future focus to continue to improve our school. 

I hope everyone can find an opportunity to contribute to this review process. We are looking forward to both reflecting on our achievements and planning for the continued improvements across our school.
