Rugby Academy

The Rugby Academy is now into the second term and we are pleased with the progression made by the students. Both classes are fully engaged in their training and making inroads with their academic studies. The collected data indicates a positive trend all selected measures.

AAMI Park – Friday, 29 April

The students in the Rugby Academy had the privilege of visiting AAMI Park and participate in activities supported by Rugby Victoria and Melbourne Rebels.

This visit provided students the opportunity to tour the facilities within AAMI Park, experience the workings behind the scenes, chat to and interact with players and staff and gain insights into the progression through to elite sport and forging possible careers in rugby.

Throughout the day, students watched the Rebels Captain’s Run before their big showdown against Moana Pasifika the following night at AAMI Park. Rugby Vic development officers took the students through a few sessions before key staff spoke about their roles in player welfare and strength and conditioning.

The kids had a great time and came away inspired about not only a career as a player but also getting an insight into the career opportunities in professional sporting organisations. An additional big thank you to Rob Leota for his TikTok dancing skills with the students and Reece Hodge, Rhys Van Nek and Pone Fa'amausili for posing for some photos and spending time with the students.
