PE & Sport

Mrs McLeary

Term 2 - week 5 PE/Sport

PE lessons are underway and the students are having a great time. The students are learning the routines and rules when they move to different areas of the school and looking fabulous in their sports uniforms. Thank you for your support in getting the children into good supportive runners - it really does help them move around more easily.

The Preps-2’s are learning different ways to kick using a variety of balls. We started the term using our “Penguin Feet” to help with our side foot soccer kicking. And now we are starting to practice how to perform an AFL punt/drop kick. We are still developing fundamental motor skills but now our focus is RUN and SKIP. We are using the skipping ropes to practise individual skipping skills and also introduce some long rope skills.

The Yr 3-6 students have been focusing on Fitness and how our bodies change during exercise. This has helped in our preparation for the District Cross Country event. We are now moving on to Invasion games where students will develop their understanding of Game Sense and develop strategies in attack and defence. We will use skills for court games such as Basketball and Netball and also develop our kicking skills in Soccer and AFL.

District Cross Country

Congratulations to all the students who took part in the District Cross Country event. It was a great day and couldn’t go ahead without the help and support of all our volunteers; thank you all for helping.

Well done to Cam, Nicolai, Lavenia and possibly Edie who will now go on to the Regional finals next week - Good Luck Everyone.

FIT CLUB

Thursday 7.45-8.30am

Fit club is open to all students who want to get more activity into their week and come along and have some fun with their friends. Just come along before school on Thursday and join us in the playground. We will have students from St Kevin’s who are completing their community service to help us.

Dr CRANKY’S BIKE HOSPITAL

Friday 8.15am

Our school recycling program will be back up and running in week 5 this term. We provide a service where we can help complete minor repairs on your bike and also donate second hand bikes to our students who need them. We have a number of bikes for 5-9yr olds that need a home and are ready for a new owner. So if you are interested please come and see us next to the church before school on Fridays.

We are also looking for new volunteers - so if there are any parents/carers who have an interest in helping out please come and see us.
