Principal’s Message

Mrs Kath Baird

Dear Parents and Carer’s,

As we round the bend towards the middle of Term 2, students at Sacred Heart will be participating in many exciting opportunities over the next few weeks. This week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week. This is a great time to celebrate being part of a Catholic community and recognising 'Our hope-filled future'.  As a part of these celebrations our school leaders will be attending and participating in a Diocesan Mass in Tamworth on Wednesday 25 May.

First Eucharist for this year will be held on Saturday 11 June at 4pm here in Boggabri. The enrolment Mass will be held on Saturday 28 May at 4pm. Please contact me at school if you have any questions.

Our SHS PTF have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes organising significant fundraisers to support the students at our school.  Thank you to the PTF and volunteers who assisted with the election BBQ and canteen on Saturday, your time is greatly appreciated.

Also please save the date of Saturday 23 July (end of Week 1/Term 3) for the inaugural Sacred Heart School Clearing Sale. This will be our major fundraiser for the year and we wish to thank Purtle Plevey Agencies for their incredibly kind offer of running the event for our school. As a school and parent community, we will require a significant amount of volunteers to assist with the running of this day. Please contact the school to let us know of your availability for this day and we will let you know of the roles that will need to be filled. I thank the PTF Executive and the committee for their ongoing support and tireless efforts in supporting our school.

Our school leaders participated in the GRIP leadership conference in Tamworth last Tuesday. This was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with other school leaders and to develop core values of leadership including: generosity, responsibility, integrity and making connections with people.

This week will see our school participate in the Narrabri and Gunnedah Eisteddfod. Our school choir will be singing in the Small Schools Choir section on Thursday 26 May. The morning session commencing at 9:30am and we are the end of the section.  A number of students  will be participating in individual and group sections across both the Narrabri and Gunnedah Eisteddfods during the week.

Next Monday 30 May our school will also participate at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod in the Speech & Drama section in the morning session. I wish to congratulate all students for their commitment to rehearsing and teamwork.

Due to the whole school performing in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod on Thursday 26 May we will need to postpone Transition for this day only. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Our Annual Book Fair has begun today to celebrate the love of reading.

Books will be available for purchase from the Book Fair from Monday 23 - Monday 30 May.

Meetings

The Term 2 SAC meeting will be held this Tuesday 24 May at 5:30pm at school.

The next  meeting of the Sacred Heart PTF will take place on Tuesday 14 June at 5:30pm. All are welcome.

Our Transition to school program continues each Thursday. It is so lovely to see the smiling faces of our new friends as they participate in transition each week. If you know of anyone intending to enrol for 2023 please encourage them to contact me at the school. (POSTPONED 26 MAY)

As of today all students will need to be in full winter uniform as last week was our last uniform transition week. Please remember that sports jackets are only to be worn with the sports uniform and the navy jumper is to be worn with the formal school uniform.

A special mention to Coen Barnes who celebrated his 5th birthday last week 17th May and to Kiarah Hill who turned 9 on Saturday 21st May. On Wednesday both Georgia Baird (12) and Elsie Groves (7) will celebrate their birthday. Enjoy your special day girls!

Take care

Kath Baird
