Principal's Report

CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONS:

On a cold, wintry day our 3 champions went off to Regional Cross Country, Hamish D came 12th and will go onto the State Championships early Term 4, congratulations Hamish (see photo above!)

Molly D came 19th and Sierra W came 34th, both girls did a fantastic run and should be very proud of reaching this level.

CAMP:

Hopefully everyone had a relaxing long weekend after Grade 3/4 Camp. It was really pleasing to receive an email from CYC Phillip Island complimenting the excellent behaviour and enthusiasm of our students! Well done to all our Grade 3 /4 students and staff for demonstrating our school values so well!

INTERSCHOOL SPORT: Thank you

We played our last game of interschool sport against Templestowe Park at home this week. A Templestowe Park boy fell and broke his arm badly at Football. The Principal from Templestowe Park has just been on the phone and has asked that I pass on the school's thanks for the positive way the students and staff behaved. He said to particularly thank Tamara K, Lynne K and Alysha Buzzini who were extremely supportive while waiting for the ambulance.

The good news is that Fraser is now out of hospital with his arm set and in a cast - he has avoided surgery and is in for an 8 week recovery but he is ok. He was extremely brave throughout the ordeal.

FINALS:

Hot off the press!

ACPS will be playing in the Grand Final in Football and Netball A.

Congratulations to all our players.

TOUCH RUGBY CLINICS:

We applied for and were successful in receiving a Sporting Schools Grant to conduct Touch Rugby Clinics for our grade 2- 6 students. We are trying to give our students lots of different opportunities and a number of students requested we try Touch Rugby! Students learnt how to throw the ball and how to hold the ball and dodge past other players. Students learn how to run forward and throw backwards. Classes are having 4 sessions.

STAFF:

Amanda Callaway: Goodnews story! Amanda has had her knee surgery and is recovering well. We all send our best wishes to her in her recuperation! Rest up Amanda. Meanwhile Maddie Dowell is doing a fantastic job with the Preps.

Sarah Bailey: We'll miss you Sarah while you head off on your Aussie adventure - see you in Term 4! Michaela McCleary will be covering Sarah's Thursday and Fridays for next term. Michaela is well known to the students and runs the MiniLit program next door to 2SB. Karen Sharland will continue her normal days of Monday –Wednesday in the 2SB classroom.

Final Day Term 2 - 2.30pm Finish

Our JSC are holding a whole school Pyjama day on the last day of term 2, with gold coin donation to go towards the state school relief program.

State Schools’ Relief is a not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of tens of thousands of disadvantaged Victorian students, and their families, each year.

Our simple and practical service ensures that all students can attend school in warmth and comfort with a greater sense of belonging and improved self-esteem, which in turn enhances their educational engagement.

Basketball Tournaments: Long Weekend:

Congratulations to all our students who participated in Basketball Tournaments over the long weekend. A parent has sent in a few pics of the events!  Some familiar ACPS faces there! Thank you.

NETBALL GRAND FINALS:

Good luck to all our students who are playing in Netball grand finals on the weekend. Let us know how you go please!

School Disco

Our school disco is next week on Tuesday June 21 in our Performing Arts Theatre. It’s a fun evening for the children and tickets are just $10 and can be purchased through Trybooking.

https://www.trybooking.com/CAEUC

We will be holding two sessions:

  • 5:00 – 6:00pm Preps through to grade 2
  • 6:15 – 7:30pm – Grade 3 through to grade 6

Please make sure children bring along a clearly named drink bottle.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help supervise on the night. It mostly involves wandering around keeping an eye on kids and making sure they don’t have “too much” fun.

You’re welcome to help at one or both sessions depending on your availability and the grades your children are in.

If you are interested, please let either Jo or myself know (James.Harris2@education.vic.gov.au) or just show up on the night ready to help.

ENROLMENTS:

Enrolments are welcome for 2023. We are keen to receive enrolment forms as early as possible so we can plan for next year. Thank you so much.

CURRICULUM DAY:

Our Curriculum Day was a great success with staff working together on SWPBS our School Wide Positive Behaviours Program with lots of great discussion and ideas coming forward. The afternoon was spent looking at opportunities in Numeracy. It was a very worthwhile day and we appreciate the time spent by all.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and remember to be kind.
