Sacred Heart Kew Gardening Club

Gardening Club returns in WEEK 4 on Thursday 4 August at the special time of 7.50am. Hopefully, the frost has had its fun and moved on by then.

Artist in Residence Project

This term we are VERY EXCITED to host Artist Annie Brigdale as she works with all our children in the Artist in Residence Program.  Mrs Burnes will work alongside Annie and all our children as they are immersed in an age/ability appropriate art making and learning experience.

Annie Brigdale is a proud Yorta Yorta woman based on Dja DjaWurrung Country in Bendigo. Annie is an intuitive artist with a strong connection to country through art. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and culture with children. Annie has facilitated a number of learning and making workshops with children, teens and adults in Victorian Schools, Art Galleries and Museums.

As part of this project, children will hear about Annie's story and her motivation. They will view and discuss her artworks and learn about her cultural heritage.

Children will develop an authentic and meaningful appreciation and respect for the significance and importance of Acknowledgement of Country.

Annie will guide children in the creation of an Acknowledgement of Country.

The whole school will collaborate on the design of a visual representation of the Sacred Heart Kew's Acknowledgement of Country, which will be assembled on the 'blank brick wall' along the basketball court area of the school.

A special thank you to Mrs Burnes for organising Annie to come and work with our school children this term.  We also thank the Parents' Association who are very generously funding this Project.  As always, we are most grateful for your support and cannot wait for this to take shape, with the Project beginning in Week 6.

Sacred Heart Kew Food Drive 2022

A huge thanks to all those families who donated food and groceries as part of this year's Sacred Heart Kew Food Drive. We collected well over 30 bags of groceries which were gratefully received by Sr. Brigid Arthur and her team at the Brigidine Asylum Resource Centre on the last day of Term 2.  Mr Millane's people mover was overflowing with donations!

Well done to the Grade 4's who helped collate all of the various donations over the last two weeks of term and presented them as part of the offertory at the whole school 'Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass' at the end of last term.

All these items have gone to support those in need and the generosity of our community is much appreciated. Thank you all once again.
