Term 3 - the Premiership Term.
Welcome back to school life for another term. With the holidays now just a distant, but enjoyable memory, let’s get into Term 3.
People used to refer to Term 3 as the ‘least’ busiest of the school year - not anymore.
We look forward to some fun and exciting events which include:
Year Two Incursion - Taskworks
Year 3 - 6 Unique You Program
Artist in Residence Project
Prep 100 Days Celebration
School Tours led by our Year Six Leaders
Year 3 & 4 Soccer Gala Day
Book Week Celebration and Activities
Gus Gordon Author Visit
Year Four Excursion - Twisted Science
Father’s Day Stall
Father’s Day Morning Tea
Year 3 & 4 AFL Gala Day
As previously mentioned, this term we will be reviewed (as part of the four year School Review cycle). Our last School Review was in 2018. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) have contracted National Curriculum Services to undertake the review. Mr David Allibon will be our reviewer in 2022. There are two parts to our School Review - Compliance and School Improvement.
Next week (Tuesday 26 July), the review will focus on Compliance in line with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). The VRQA is responsible for the regulation of education and training providers and qualifications in Victoria from homeschooling to higher education. All Victorian Catholic schools are required to meet the minimum standards and requirements for school registration, and other accountability requirements set out in legislation and funding agreements with both the State and Commonwealth governments. We will also be reviewed against the 11 new Child Safe Standards that came into effect on July 1, 2022, replacing the previous 7 standards.
The following week (Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 August) the focus of our school review will be on School Improvement. As part of this component, the reviewer will examine our school data, school improvement agenda and our self reflection rubric. David Allibon will chat with all staff members, many students, School Advisory Council members and parent representatives from across the school over these two days. In late August, we will receive feedback from the reviewer, where he will share his observations, insights and recommendations. This feedback will then direct our new School Improvement Plan for the next four years, as we work with our Regional Learning Services team (MACS) to set our four year improvement agenda, developing our next School Improvement Plan (SIP) and Annual Action Plan (AAP). We look forward to working with David and the MACS Regional Learning Services team as we review the past four years and plan for the future.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards,
Ed Weekes
