Year 12 Camp
Year 12 Camp
Year 12 Students spent the final week of this term at Wombat Corner Camp on Emerald Lake. They completed a range of fun and challenging activities including archery, flying fox, canoeing, an indigenous culture information session and for the Year 12 VCAL Students a trip to Healesville Sanctuary. At night, the teachers and students shared a variety of fun activities including a trivia night, disco and campfire. Here are some of the student’s highlights of the camp:
Archery
They may not have been a great shot, but they were stoked when they hit or came close enough to the red bullseye!! “Archery was the best because I won and my prize was a chocolate mousse. My archery skills came in clutch right at the end with a bullseye”.
Canoeing
“Canoeing was awesome because we got to crash into each other and play games”. One group was the British Empire and they dominated the world. The students splashed each other and had fun chasing each other around the lake. “We got our bums wet and kept crashing into the rocks” but others “managed not to get wet in the canoes”.
Monique managed to escape the canoe and push Kaylah out in the lake by herself where she chilled and floated around for a bit. But Joel, Aaron, Lachlan H, Lachlan A, Vann and Dylan weren’t as lucky, they capsized their canoes and then attempted to swim to shore in the cold.
Flying Fox
Some students preferred the flying fox because they got to go down many times. “I tried to hit the tyre at the end but couldn’t. We made a game out of it. Emma hit it but I didn’t. It was also fun when you bounce off the end and come back, it’s awesome fun”.
But all students enjoyed spending quality time connecting with their friends and teachers. They said, “the cabin groups were great, but it meant we haven’t been able to get much sleep”. During a campfire session the students sat nice and cosy by the fire sharing their ideas and aspirations. It was nice watching the students walk around with their cups of tea in the cold weather and relax on the sofas interacting together.
At the end of a fun-filled week there has been an overwhelming sense of positivity amongst the students. It has been a great to finish a busy term.
