Sports Academy
The Heathmont Sports Academy has competed in its first ever interscholastic sports matches. Both Heathmont Sports Academy and Mount Ridley Sports Academy have embarked upon a sister school partnership to give our athletes an opportunity to compete against each other in a few sports.
This partnership will include a yearly shield that will be presented to the winning school as we progress with our programs. Mount Ridley has a slight advantage over Heathmont because their academy is in its 6th year, as to us just having our first full year on campus without the COVID interruption.
We competed in AFL Intermediate Boys 9’s, Intermediate Girls 9’s, and Junior Boys. We also competed in Basketball Intermediate Girl’s, Intermediate Boys, and Junior Boys.
I am proud to announce that our AFL intermediate Boys and Girl’s teams won their matches convincingly, while our junior boys played well but lost their match. The basketball matches were exciting matches as well. Our junior Boys won in a lopsided affair, our intermediate Girl’s just missed out on the buzzer and our intermediate boys suffered a close loss.
The point tally thus far is 3-3 between the schools and we are looking forward to the next round of competition taking place in term 3. Hopefully, we can reverse some of the results and come away with our first ever academy sports award.
Go Heathmont!
