Student teaching visit to Bayswater north primary school

This term, a number of our students were invited to visit Bayswater PS to teach Indonesian language and culture to the primary school students. They taught them Indonesian numbers, colours, songs and music and our students were amazing! Besides providing students with engaging opportunities to apply their Indonesian language skills, this visit also fosters closer collaboration between primary and high school students.

Here is some feedback:

“I really enjoyed going back to my old primary school and seeing the teachers and buddies. We taught them Indonesian numbers, colours, songs and how to pay the Angklung. It was so fun.” Caitlyn R, Year 10

“I loved seeing my primary school Indonesian teacher again and the students. We talked about our school and learning. I enjoyed teaching the kids and seeing them so engaged and happy. It was great.” Emily M, Year 10

CLASSROOM VISIT FROM INDONESIAN TEACHER

This semester, we also had a lovely visit from Bu Dowling, the Indonesian teacher from the local primary schools as part of teacher professional collaboration. Some of her former students were overjoyed to see and talk to her. The teacher was also thrilled with how her former students have grown so wonderful and brilliant!

INDONESIAN LUNCH EXCURSION

Students will conclude a wonderful term of Language learning with a lunch excursion to an Indonesian restaurant to be immersed in the Indonesian culture and savour traditional Indonesian cuisine. To reinforce their learning about traditional food and dining etiquette, this lunch provides them with an authentic experience to taste the different Indonesian food and use the language learnt to order food and describe the taste and smell of the dishes. It is a great end to their term 2 learning. Selamat makan!
