Congratulations to all those who represented the school at HICES cross country. KWS took out first place in the aggregate trophy and third place overall, a fantastic team effort in a big field of runners.
Special mention to Marlon Zielinski, Willa Dunlop, Tom Karrasch, Harriet Johnston, Asher Jones & Georgie Simpson who qualified for the HICES team to compete at the NSWCIS championships in Sydney on the 8th of June, we wish them all the best.
Thank you to Mrs Fatai and Miss Collet for their marshalling of the course throughout the day. Thank you to the parent supporters who made the trip over to Bathurst, the children loved having the extra support there on the day to help get them over the line.
This event has been postponed until the beginning of Term 3. Once a new date is confirmed, we will notify parents.
One for the Money, Two for the Show
A show was certainly put on by the KWS Mariners against our formidable opponents at Cudal on their home turf. At KWS, a school goal is to hold our opponents score card to 0. The Mariners have lived up to this legend as they did just that on weekend, holding Cudal to blank with a 9 – 0 win.
A damp pitch and long grass created a slow start. After a great opener by Harry Chapman (the second week in a row), momentum built and the Mariners proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Cudal’s strong defensive line challenged the Mariners attack, but with quick drives down the line and accurate crosses into the centre, the Mariners came off for drinks at the end of the first half with a sizeable lead.
This determined team headed into the second half with the game plan of continuing to use the line as their advantage in throw ins. The Mariners communicated well, played with a strong attacking pack, strategically held a short mid and had a strong fort in defence to take out the bickies at the end of the match.
Thanks to all parents and friends for their support in getting this team to games week in week out. We look forward to our first home match next week as we venture across to PLC to continue our winning streak.
