The Month of June

The month of June is named after Juno; the Roman goddess of hearth and home. The hearth is the fireplace, which was once the gathering spot for cooking, conversation and storytelling.  In this season of winter, we experience cold days and nights, and seek opportunities to find warmth.  May these also be times we seek companionship and rich conversation. The Vinnies Winter Appeal aims to bring some warmth and joy to those who find it hard to get through these months by giving them food and household supplies.

Reflection: Are you able to donate to the Vinnies Winter Appeal? Your donation WILL make a difference.

Let us pray … Generous God, these cold days and nights remind us that it is a blessing to have food and shelter.  May we be generous and courageous to share what we have with those who are homeless or sleep rough every night.  Amen.

St John Baptist de La Salle … pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts … forever.

Vinnies Winter Appeal 2022

Everyday, members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) visit homes of people who are in need in our neighbourhood.

For many years, St Bede’s College has supported the work of Vinnies through practical donations.

We have been asked to continue our good works to support the Winter Appeal.

This year, the Vinnies Winter Appeal is focussing on specific items (listed below) that will be delivered into homes.

Students are asked to bring their donation to Homeroom and Tutor Group.

Can you donate?:

  • Non-perishable food items (cereal, pasta, canned food, tea, coffee, Milo, etc)
  • Laundry liquid or powder, kitchen cleaning items (dishwashing liquid, laundry liquid, etc)
  • Personal hygiene items (soap, deodorant, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc)

Each small action of kindness and generosity has a great impact on those in need.

Donations will be collected up to Friday 24th June 2022.

(Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus)
