School News

SSO Week

This week is SSO Appreciation Week. We would like to acknowledge the great work our School Services Officers do in every facet of the school.

They are the bright and cheery team that welcome you to the school, which help you with finances, with medical issues and with information about the school. They provide programs for intervention for children, they provide support for specific learning needs, they maintain the school grounds and buildings, and they help to maintain a vibrant and interesting library.

The school could not operate effectively without the huge support they provide to us as leaders and teachers in the school.

We feel sure that you, as an appreciative school community, would join us in acknowledging the great work that they do.

Pupil Free Day

Dates: Monday 2nd September

Governing Council has approved a Pupil Free Day for Monday 2nd September.  Staff will be working with a number of Partnership schools consolidating and further developing their expertise to support the growth of every learner through formative assessment .

OSHC will be available and if you need a booking please see Maria as soon as possible.

NAPLAN

These packs include the hard copy individual student reports for distribution to parents/caregivers. Once reports have been received they will be distrubuted to families.

Premier's Be Active Challenge

A friendly reminder that the PBAC finishes on 27th September 2019!

Physical activity can help with focus, improves behaviour and promote a positive attitude. Any type of physical activity is good, and 60 minutes a day is best. The challenge is to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity on at least 5 days of the week for at least 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of daily recorded physical activity you will be rewarded with a medal. Simply record your progress and return your registration form to the Front office.

2020 Year 7

Families with students who are intending to attend Year 7 in Independent or Catholic schools in  2020, could you  please notify the school as soon as possible. This will enable us to plan for future enrolments. The attached flyer gives families more information around the move of Year 7 students to High School in 2022.

Swimming R-6

This year swimming lessons will occur throughout week 7 for Reception to Year 6 (Tuesday-Friday). As always it is an educational and exciting experience for our students. This year we will be heading to the  Adelaide Aquatic Centre, North Adelaide. Swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the Australian Curriculum with a focus on building confidence, water safety skills and stroke development. It is imperative that students attend and complete swimming lessons in preparation for aquatics in Year 7, and as a life long safety skill. A medical certificate must be produced and an exemption form completed if your child is unable to attend lessons

Parents are encouraged to take note of the following information:

  • Take note of bus departure times – late arrivals will require parent/caregiver to transport directly to the pool (picture).
  • Swimming/Aquatic Consent Form must be returned to the class teacher as soon as possible.  With Medical Plans if required
  • Payment must be made to the school by Wednesday 28th August.
