Science Excursion to Moorabbin Air Museum

On Tuesday 9th August, Year 5 and 6 students visited the Moorabbin Air Museum with the Specialist Teachers as part of a Science/Engineering morning.

Museum volunteers took the students through the exhibits with stories, historical facts and explanations of things like: why a wing has a curved surface on top and a flat surface underneath. The students respectfully listened and then most had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit or climb aboard as a passenger. Back at school they were involved in science/engineering activities such as making a windmill and taking part in a paper aeroplane competition until lunchtime. It was wonderful to see the Year 5’s and 6’s embracing the chance to visit the Museum and making the most of the science day. A big thank you to the parents who came to help on the day and all the teachers involved.
