By the time you read this, the Book Fair will have been packed up and the library returned to normal. This was our first Book Fair since 2019 and what a busy, exciting Fair it was! This was obviously an event that is appreciated by the community and I want to sincerely thank everyone for helping to make it such a success. With a percentage of the takings going to Kingswood Primary School, we (you) have raised a grand total of $1,936.00 for the school.

I would like to give a very big thank you to the volunteers who assisted at the Fair. Without you we could never have run such a great event for the school.

Next week is Book Week and our Dress Up Day is on Thursday 25th. I know that all the teachers are planning their costumes, and we can’t wait to see all the students in their Dress Ups. There will also be a Reading Challenge and all the information will be given out next week.

On Friday 26th the wonderful Australian Author, Michael Wagner will be here to speak to all the students. Here is some information about what he will be speaking to the students about:

Michael Wagner is the best-selling author of more than 80 books for children including the Maxx Rumble series and Why I Love Footy. He’s been speaking to, and working with, primary school children of all ages for fifteen years. As one of Victoria’s most popular school speakers, Michael can tailor his sessions to any sized groups, from single classrooms to whole school assemblies. His talks include a comical and interactive story time session for Prep to 2s and talks for middle and upper primary students which are full of practical advice, gentle wisdom and humour. His many workshops for upper primary students range from a step-by-step guide to making picture books, to the keys to writing great description, to Michael’s popular Instant Plot Machine session (for grades 5 and 6) which explains how to quickly plot a story from any starting point (including a NAPLAN prompt) to a satisfying conclusion. Prior to becoming a children’s author, Michael worked as a radio broadcaster with the ABC for ten years, wrote and produced animation for television, wrote comedy for ABC Radio National, grew up in a housing commission flat, and played in a band that almost became famous. He’s the father of two adult children and is married to fellow children’s author Jane Godwin.

A reminder to everyone to please help your children to return their library books on time so they do not need an overdue book reminder.

Thank you.
