LITERACY
We have been writing limericks in literacy this week. The students have been working on receiving, providing and applying feedback from their peers. They have produced some fantastic poems and have refined their revision skills.
Alana:
I know a hairdresser who's funky and cool
She even does hair in a swimming pool
You might think this is funny
Doing hair in the dunny
You can see she doesn't follow the rules
Micah:
There was a red dragon who was really very cool
But people thought he was a really dumb fool
He was really smart
And good at art
He had one rule, that was to be really cool.
Molly:
There once was a nice dude named Bob
Who really liked to sob
He thought he was cool
So he swam in a pool
He really liked eating fresh corn on the cob
Milan:
There once was a crazy pilot from Japan
Who rode his plane while cooking with his pan
His recipe ,he read
While cooking his bread
His passengers jumped out to avoid the crazy man
Ruby
I once knew a tiger who was a sous chef
But he was always so awfully deaf
He tripped on a fork
And swallowed a cork
Then he saw a glowing angel called Steph
Leo
There once was an axolotl who lived in a bottle
He always wanted a big throttle
His bottle was little
So he went to Kiddle
Because he really needed to use a pottle
Javea:
A clever clown that's right side up
Went to the pound and got a pup
He made the best choice
But the floor was too moist
And they both ended up needing a drink from a cup
MATHS
We have been focussing on developing the students multiplication strategies. It is important that all students have strong mental and written strategies to solve problems involving multiplication up to 10 x 10. Once they have developed these skills they will then be able to solve any multiplication problem that they receive. We have been developing these by playing games such as tic tac toe and multiplication madness. These are fun and easy games the students can even play at home!
