3/4 B

Week 4 Term 3

Literacy

Peer Response Groups - In writing, this past week, we have been learning how to self assess our own work and also provide feedback to our peers using a peer response group. In groups of three, all children get the opportunity to read a short piece of their writing and have the other two members of the group provide positive feedback and then constructive feedback on the writing. Students have the opportunity to take on the feedback and use it to change their writing.  Some examples of positive feedback might include:

The best part of your work was....

The ... worked well...

I really enjoyed...

While some examples of constructive feedback might be...

I have a suggestion...

I think you should...

Maths

Length, Area and Perimeter.  In the photos below the students are using direct comparison to help them find out which books have the largest area. Once finished, we were required to place them in order from smallest to largest. Some books were obviously larger or smaller, however some books when compared to others weren't so easy to work out. Not all books have the same width and length of course, so some of the books certainly threw us in the pit. How can we work which is the larger book if one book is longer, yet the other one is wider?

Inquiry

Fairness Inspectors.

In Inquiry this week we did a tour around the school (in threes) and looked to see whether our school could improve accessibility for people who have a vision or hearing impairment or need to use a wheelchair to get around. We had a great discussion about the things we see around our local community and the things that need to be considered when designing and building public spaces, so they are fair for everyone to enjoy and use. Mr Steve was very interested to see what we were up you!
