Attendance

Each term we monitor our student’s attendance across the school and contact families whose child’s attendance is below 85%. Our school attendance target for every student is 95% attendance. High student attendance is associated, on average, with higher student achievement and an improved ability to build social and emotional skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience. We encourage any families who are having difficulty getting their child to school to contact the office so we can arrange some support networks for you and your family.

School Opinion Survey – Parents

Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 12 August 2022. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve.

To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2022.

Can’t find your invitation?  If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.

District Athletics

Students will compete this coming Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th of August at the district athletics carnival at Runaway Bay Sport Centre. Mr Bates will be officiating the event and Mrs Tara will be there as the team manager to support all students competing. Students are to meet Mr Bates or Mrs Tara in the stands each morning so we can mark their names off and ensure they get to their designated events. We look forward to seeing our students compete at the next level!

Eisteddfod

Our Senior and Junior Band and Choirs will be competing at the annual Gold Coast Eisteddfod over the coming weeks. The students and teachers are very excited to be performing in front of an audience again. We wish all of our performers the best of luck and look forward to seeing them perform in front of their parents and peers. Thank you to Ms Carter, Ms Kesting and Ms Chandler for the time and effort they have been putting in to prepare our students for their performances.

Yr. 5 Camp

Our students had a great time at Thunderbird Park last week on the annual Yr. 5 Camp! There were certainly some chilly mornings with teachers and students rugging up before having some beautiful weather during the day. The students loved challenging themselves on the high ropes course and fossicking for thunder eggs amongst many other activities. A massive thank you to the Yr. 5 team, Ms Tara and groundsman Pete for supporting the students while up on camp. Each year our staff give up many hours of their own time to prepare/organise camp and their nights and mornings with their own families to give your children a great camp experience! If you see these staff around it might be worth giving them a huge thank you for their efforts!

2023 Prep Interviews

Prep interviews have started and we now over half way through, having met over 70 of our newest Preppies has been a great experience!

If you have enrolled your child into Prep for next year, or know someone that is planning to do this and has yet to make an interview time, please call the office on 5520 8333.

Interviews are conducted each morning Mon-Thurs from 8.30-10.45am and are mandatory.

Book Week Celebrations

This year the Book Week theme is ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’ and celebrations kick off on Monday 22nd August with our Book Parade at 9 am in the hall. This is a student only event, as we don’t have enough room in the hall for parents and all our students. Please feel free to take photos before school and keep an eye on our Facebook page for photos! All children and teachers are encouraged to get into the spirit and dress up as their favourite book character, we have some awesome prizes and are looking forward to a great parade on Thursday 25th August we will end Book Week with a production from a theatre company who will perform an adaptation from a Short Listed book for all students from P-6. This production will be free of charge as the school will cover the costs and will be a fantastic way to end our celebrations!
