BOOK WEEK 2022 - Dreaming With Eyes Open…

Each year across Australia, The Children’s Book Council brings children and books together celebrating Children’s Book Week. This provides us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Australian Children’s Literature.

This year Book Week will be celebrated from the 22nd - 26th August, the theme being “Dreaming With Eyes Open…”.

St Xavier’s students will spend time during the week participating in various classroom activities focused on this theme.

Our celebrations will begin with a dress up day on Monday 22nd August (Week 6). Students may choose to dress up as their favourite bedtime story character and stay dressed in their costumes all day if they are comfortable. Please note that the costume does not need to be too elaborate.

You are most welcome to join us for a Book Week Parade in the hall at 12:30 pm followed by a picnic lunch. Please bring your favourite picture book to share with your children whilst enjoying your lunch! At the end of lunch, students will return to class as normal.

Thank you for your support of this celebration. We look forward to a wonderful week celebrating Australian Children’s Literature.

Sora

We have just received some exciting statistics in regards to our SORA usage.

In Term 2, St Xavier's borrowed the most titles across the CSO!! Well done to all our super readers!

Did you know that St Xavier’s students have access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks via the Armidale Catholic Schools Office Digital Library?

The digital library is accessible via the app called SORA, by Overdrive. Simply access the app store and search for Sora. Alternatively go to https://soraapp.com

The next step will be for your child to log in using their own personal username and password. Students should know their username as it is the first part of their school email address, however if they need reminding please ask them to come and see me in the library. Their password is simply the same password that they use to log in to their chromebooks every day at school.

The fabulous thing about SORA and the digital library is that it can be accessed from home and is available throughout the year, including during school holidays. This means access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks at any time!
