Outstanding Sporting Achievement in Squash.

What an amazing achievement by Amelie!!!!

The Victorian State Championships was held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre last weekend. It is the biggest annual junior squash event in Victoria, which attracted competitors from around the country. Amelie played her own age group (under-17’s) as well as under-19’s and won both! In May of this year, Amelie was sitting at no.1 in under-15’s nationally, before moving to the under-17’s age group starting with a ranking of 10th place. In less than three months she has reached the no.1 spot in Australia. In addition, just before turning 15 Amelie made the national squad and has her eye on the World Juniors team 2023. If you weren’t already familiar with this sport, you may be now thanks to squash legend Rachael Grinham who was our flag bearer at the Commonwealth Games this morning! And did you know squash was named the healthiest sport in the world by Forbes! This is because it ticks all the boxes, including cardio, strength, endurance, and flexibility. It also makes you think on your feet because it’s a very strategic and technical game! It’s an intense and exciting sport to watch, and even more fun to play! Squash is also paving the way for equality as one of the only sports sharing equal prize money between men and women!
