Year 4 Online Profiles

The Year 4 students were given the task of using Publisher to create two profiles. The first was to contain personal information that was safe to share online and the second was to be made up information (that looked real) which was unsafe to share online. Here are some examples:

House Cross Country Carnival 2022

This year’s House Cross Country Carnival was held in Term 2 between recess and lunch on the Vermont Reserve.  Students ran the course of Cantley Lane, Terrara Road, Canterbury Road and Nurlendi Road.  The School Sport Victoria distance and age group classifications require 9 and 10 year old students to run 2kms and 11 and 12 year old students to complete a 3km course.

After an extremely competitive day of competition, only 242 points separated 1st and 2nd with Canterbury eventually being crowned this year’s House Cross Country Champions.  I would like to thank our committed teachers and wonderful parent community for supervising the course and supporting the students.

The House and Individual Age Group results from the day are as follows:

1st        Canterbury      3350 points                 3rd        Cantley            3000 points

2nd       Terrara             3108 points                 4th        Nurlendi          2776 points

Science

In Term Three students are attending weekly science lessons.

Level Two have been studying clouds and the water cycle. In Week 3 students enjoyed creating some raining clouds! Students filled glass jars with water and squirted shaving cream on top. This looked just like clouds in the sky! Carefully they added some water with food dye inside the cloud. Slowly, the water broke down the soap in the shaving cream and slowly ‘rained’ down! The jars looked fabulous! See below for some photos.

Level 3 have been learning about the earth and how it rotates to give us day and night and that it revolves around the sun to bring us the seasons. In week 2, we used a globe and a light source to demonstrate these phenomena. Here are some photos of our demonstration.

Level 4 have been learning about visible light. While the Year 6s were on camp, the Year 5s experimented with the direction of light using dark boxes with viewing windows. Photos will come once the Year 6s have done the same.
