Multicultural Day 2020

Hello Everybody!

 

The Multicultural Day fever is rising everyday, and students will now ask their families for some collaboration to find the right outfit for the day.

 

Let’s clarify this aspect of our big event so that it will remain one of the highlights of the day.

Firstly, it’s not a normal uniform day, it’s not a mufti day where you where normal casual clothes or footy tops.

What are we invited to wear then?                   

 Here are some options:

  1. After investigating your background, you can wear any clothes of your traditional culture
  2. You can wear garments and outfits from traditional cultures other than yours, provided that you know enough about that culture and that you are respectful of it.
  3. You can play and tinker with fabric and materials to make your own outfit
  4. You can get a white t-shirt and use it as a canvas to write and draw and paint words and pictures about multiculturalism (words in different languages, dancing and music keywords, patterns and colourful pictures, flags, etc.) Be creative!

The more you know about the clothes you will showcase, the better. Make sure you are respectful of all traditions and if you have still doubts about this, talk to your child’s teacher.

As for the Solidarity Project that is always an important part of our celebration, we are asking every student and teacher to contribute with a gold coin to raise funds in support of the animals whose habitat has been so severely damaged by the bushfires.

 

Wild Life Victoria is an organisation who is dedicated to this difficult task and we would like to help them in this formidable effort.

 

The donation follows the “Chore for Coin” formula, that is, the students are invited to offer their time in exchange for the gold coin. They can negotiate the task with their families and be then proud of their collective effort, so please take the chance and have them doing some little jobs around the house, in exchange for that coin, it will be worth double!                     

(P.S. We always make the point that cleaning one own room is something that we do without any money being involved!), just support our Project in its most authentic spirit, everybody helps a bit and the whole world smiles!
