Year 5/6—Celebrating Learning

We have been using the Writer’s Workshop process to engage our readers with sizzling starters. We have also been revising our work by critically revising our writing ready for publishing.

Also in 5/6, mainstream students have started to use Google Classrooms. This will be used more and more as students and teachers become accustomed to Google Classroom functions.  So far, students have used Google Classrooms to plan their game design for their integrated focus on migration. Students will plan and make games either online games or board games.

STEINER - After a three-week unit on Ancient Greece 5/6S are now in the midst of business maths. We have been learning how to use formulas to find discounted prices, profits and losses. We’ve had discussions on economics, especially types of economics.

Students have been engaged in the story of Homer’s Odyssey. Odysseus has found his way home and the drama is escalating. Before the end of term the children will have created artistic representations of Egyptian sarcophagi and clay pyramids.
