Celebrating all that is Good with Joy and Gratitude
Schools are busy places and often there is not a lot of time for reflection during the day to day; however, taking time to reflect and wonder is vital to ensure growth.
Recently, I was blessed to attend the Kildare Ministries Conference from 28 to 30 April and share with others who are involved in various ministries. One session that spoke to me was student-led and reminded me of the importance of the purpose of education. Kilbreda College is committed to empowering young women to be well-informed, independent and critical thinkers who are confident to embrace an ever-changing world. This is both a privilege and a great responsibility. Thank you for entrusting us with your daughter's education and for partnering with us in the journey.
Academic Tutoring Program
The 'Tutor Learning Initiative' is designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The academic tutors at the College will aim to provide targeted teaching to students identified as needing support. All tutors employed at the College are either qualified teachers or university students undertaking teacher training.
Parents and carers of students who had been identified through teacher referral, testing and/or data analysis as potentially benefiting from this opportunity have been contacted via email regarding the tutoring program. If you have not been contacted and you believe that your daughter’s learning was dramatically impacted by COVID-19, please contact our Head of Learning Diversity, Simone Ryan at simone.ryan@kilbreda.vic.edu.au
There is also an open opportunity for students in Years 10 to 12 who would like to attend after school tutoring workshops. Tutors will circulate between students and provide support across a range of subject areas.

NAPLAN
Students in Years 7 and 9 participated in NAPLAN testing this week. Whilst NAPLAN tests can seem a little daunting, they provide a wonderful opportunity for students to start preparing for other high stakes testing such as VCE examinations.
Students responded well to the experience and were supported by teachers to remain composed, focused and to try their best.
Later in the year, parents will receive their child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report will describe your child’s skills in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. The report will also show how your child performed in relation to national minimum standards. These describe the minimum acceptable standards for students across Australia.
For more information about the tests, please visit the VCAA website at www.vcaa.vic.edu.au or the NAPLAN website at www.nap.edu.au.
Elevate Education – Parent Webinar Series
This week, Year 8 and Year 10 students participated in an Elevate Education workshops designed to assist with time management and organisation. Students responded well to the workshops and their feedback indicated that they found the workshops to be highly valuable.
We are looking forward to hosting a couple of onsite seminars for parents in the coming weeks. We encourage you to book in and partner with the College to support your daughter in her academic journey through secondary school. We look forward to seeing you there.
