Visual and Creative Arts

Year 7 and 8 Art

It has been great to see the junior year levels back in the Art Rooms again after courses were postponed last year due to COVID-19. There is much enthusiasm, fun and refining of their creating and making skills.

Our Year 7 students have just finished printmaking that was inspired by the possum skin cloaks of our First People. They learnt a new process of printmaking and the history of story telling of the Indigenous people and the possum skin cloaks that were so important.

Our Year 8 students are in the process of making three dimensional ceramic constructions representing micro organisms in different environments, such as under the sea.

The main technique is Coil Construction and hand building. Lots of imaginative and creative artworks are in the making. The finished products will be displayed at our end of year Art and Design Exhibition.

Walk in My Shoes

Year 9 Visual Communication and Design students were recently involved in creating a T- Shirt design for a competition organised by the 'Steps Outreach Service' who engage and support young people experiencing homelessness in Melbourne.

The competition was organised to help raise awareness of youth homelessness and encourage community support to end youth homelessness.

The beautiful designs of two of our students were selected to be a  part of the Walk in my Shoes exhibition in the Atrium at Federation Square.

Mikayla's design will also be available for sale on hoodies and t-shirts at Hosier Hoodies www.hoodies.com.au. Hosier Hoodies is a social enterprise with all profits  going to the work of 'Steps Outreach Service' and the young people they support.

We invite you to attend the Walk in my Shoes exhibition and support both of our talented students and a very worthy cause.

The exhibition is open for viewing at The Atrium, Federation Square from 8 to 15 May.
