From the Principal

Week 8 Term 2 2021

Dear Parents

I would  like to commence this newsletter with a big "thank you" to our community for your efforts  during lockdown.  No Victorian expected or wanted to be back in the situation we found ourselves in over the past two weeks.  What this period of time has, once again shown is just how  resilient individuals can be. Thank you to our wonderful staff for providing the students with an engaging learning program and to the parents for assisting your child/ren over the past two weeks.  I hope today is the last of the remote learning.

The Deputy Premier's announcement  yesterday means that our students can return to school as of tomorrow Friday 11th June. This is great news for all.

The following advice has been provided for  schools

  • Students and school staff in all schools across Victoria should attend their school in accordance with normal arrangements from and including Friday 11 June.
  • Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) programs operating in schools can also resume full operations from, and including Friday 11 June.

Interschool sport:

  • can resume in regional Victoria but is not permitted in metropolitan Melbourne.

Face masks (applies to all school settings):

  • Children under 12 years of age and students at primary school are not required to wear a face mask when at school, or when attending an OSHC program.
  • For the purposes of communicating, teachers and education support staff are not required to wear a face mask while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can.
  • Face masks are mandatory for all school staff and school students aged 12 or older when travelling to and from school.
  • The density limit of one person per 4 square metres applies to spaces used only by staff and to publicly accessible areas. It does not apply to classrooms or other areas used by students.

The last point applies specifically to parents. Parents are allowed to enter the school grounds  but must wear a mask at all times. I ask that parents do not enter classrooms  and please social distance at the drop off and pick up areas.

Just a reminder that next Monday 14th June is a Public Holiday in Victoria. There will be no school for the children or staff on this day

Congratulations

Congratulations to Rita (Ms Fitzgerald) and George on the birth of their little girl Naoise. From the picture you can see she is proudly wearing her Irish Cardigan!!!!! We know Naoise will bring great joy to their family.

First Eucharist

We are still unsure as to whether  the First Eucharists rescheduled for Saturday 19th June and Sunday 20th June will proceed. I am meeting with Fr John tomorrow morning as places of worship are limited to 50 attendees as of this weekend. We do not know  when this might be lifted.  We will communicate with families as soon as we have further  information.

MACSSIS Surveys

Please take the time to  read a letter on the next page regarding the MACSSIS surveys. These are annual surveys completed by staff, students and parents.  The information gathered is used to help formulate the schools improvement framework.

Tuckshop

Just a reminder that there will be no Tuckshop tomorrow.

Have a great  long weekend

Brian
