Out Of School Hours Care
OSHC News Term 2, Week 8 2021
With travel still restricted due to covid, our programming has shifted focus towards continents and culture. By encouraging children to do more culture enriched activities in a respectful and appropriate manner, it can help broaden the children’s knowledge of the world, which may be limited due to travel difficulties. With a mixture of inside/outside crafts like designing different carnival masks, making clay Argentinian suns, drawing chalk mandalas, the kids responded well with all the activities. They seemed to thrive off of the fun activities and the research they did with educators about the cultures. Most of our outside play surrounded free time in the gym in the afternoon and playground free play in the morning.
Families please be aware that if you do not use the service for 8 weeks your account will be ceased. Centrelink will only pay the percentage of subsidy up until the child's last physical attendance. This means if your account has ceased and your child's last attendances were recorded as absents you will be required to pay the full fee. Follow this link for more information https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/child-care-subsidy/how-manage-your-payment/if-your-child-absent-from-child-care#a3
The service has scheduled homework time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5pm. If your child does not have homework we encourage them to complete a homework sheet which is suited for their year level and/or ability.
LNPS OSHC encourages children to spend time outdoors and interacting with their peers. This means that technology is limited until after homework time on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Please be aware that the educators will no longer be dropping and collecting the reception students from their classroom. It is important for the reception students to develop confidence and independence and educators will monitor the arrivals and departures of the students to ensure that everyone is safe.
The Vacation Care Program for July is available via the website or hardcopies which are available in the OSHC room.
If your child requires medication please ensure that you have provided an action plan as well as the medication (asthma pump, epipen etc.) to the service. It is vital that we have access to your child’s medication at our service whilst your child is attending.
As part of our sun safety policy all children are required to wear a hat if they are playing outside. Please remind your child/children to bring their hats from their classroom if they are attending the service.
A reminder to all parents and caregivers to contact the service via email at info@lnpsoshc.org.au if their child(ren) are no longer attending their sessions or have been collected early from school.
At our service we aim to cater to children’s needs as much as possible, however, if your child has specific dietary requirements or does not like the food programmed for the day please pack an alternative snack or drop off food alternatives at the service.
