Marni Naa Pudni

The end of another very busy and highly successful term is quickly approaching. Our students and staff have worked consistently to achieve goals and reflect on progress.

Staffing

It is with great excitement that I am able to announce that we will have a new Leader begining with us next term. Nik Skrob has been appointed as our Assistant Principal - Wellbeing and Learning Support. Nik joins us from Modbury West PS where he has been Assistant Principal - Wellbeing and Learning. We are really looking forward to Nik starting at LNPS.

Leadership is currently working through a few staffing situations for Term 3. Hopefully we will be confirm all staffing in the Week 10 Newsletter.

Early Years Redevelopment

I have finally been able to get an update on the Redevelopment today. We have a tender meeting happening on Monday 28th June. Hopefully I will have further information to share after this meeting.

I know this is slow, but the final outcome will be worth it!

Communication Policy

Communication between home and school is vital to  support and strengthen student learning and wellbeing.  LNPS has a Communication Policy that has been developed in consultation with staff and parents, that has been ratified by our Governing Council.

We would like families to revisit our Policy to ensure that we are all working together to maintain effective communication and  supportive relationships.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Reading with your child

LNPS has a highly explicit approach to the teaching of phonics for our R-2 students through InitiaLit. We are now into our second year of implementation and the growth we are seeing for students is exciting.  At the Pupil Free Day on Friday of Week 10, R-2 teachers will be working with trainers from InitiaLit to continue building their capacity to implement high quality teaching and learning.

We often receive questions from families about how they can support their child with reading at home. This is a great question but the answer is often different for each student. MultiLit the developers of InitiaLit have a number of articles in this area that provide a great approach for families.  Reading with your Child is a great approach that you can use at home to support your child's reading.  We hope you find this resources useful to use at home.

Reports

It is coming to the end of the first semester and Mid Year Progress Reports will be distributed to families  through your  Sentral - Parent Portal to view  and print from 3:30pm Friday 25th June.

To be able to access your child/rens report you will need your Parent Portal login. If you don't have access to the Sentral Parent Portal  please follow the instructions below. If you have any question please contact Vanessa on 84435544

Reports to families describe the student’s achievement of the learning outcomes expected for the reporting period, what they are doing well and what their next steps are for growth.

When discussing your child’s report, the indicator of effort should be considered along with the achievement level. We believe it is important that parents give weight to the effort. Generally, there will be a close connection between the achievement and the effort.

It is also a great opportunity to talk with your child about their Student Comment. These comments are where students have the opportunity to reflect on goals they have set throughout the first two terms and progress they have made.

I have had the pleasure of reading a number of Student Comments and it is inspiring to read about the goals they have achieved and the next steps they are planning. This reflection links back to Goal Setting Meetings and the vital role they play in supporting student growth.

A child's report can bring feelings of joy, excitement, and pride; it can also cause concern, frustration, and uncertainty. In either case, the reporting period marks a new beginning to set goals as well as reflect on past work habits, achievements, and challenges.
