Year 9/10

Middle School News

As we are half way through Term 3, Students and Parents should be commended on the way they have engaged in Learning from Home 2.0. Through my discussions with students and parents, the majority have commented that they are finding this round of Learning from Home a lot easier as they know the processes, they are aware of the expectations and are feeling connected to their peers through various homegroup and class activities.

I would like to thank the Year 9 and 10 leadership team, homegroup teachers, class teachers, support staff and parents for their dedication in ensuring our students are well supported, have the resources they require and are engaged in their learning. Thank you.

Term 3 also sees a busy time for year 9 & 10 students, albeit in different circumstances this year. Students are currently finalising their course and subject selections for 2021. Students have been provided information regarding the subjects on offer and how to select their electives and programs.

Students are encouraged to seek assistance from parents, guardians, teachers and the careers department. If you have any questions regarding the process, please contact your relevant Year Level Leader or myself.

Year 10 news

Course Counselling

The year 10s have been preparing their pathways by completing online course counselling with their families and staff. Thank you to all the families who were online with their child to support them selecting their pathways into VCAL or VCE for 2021.

Thank you to all the prepared year 10 students who are keen to begin the next stage of their education – senior school! Keep up the commitment and organisation to finish year 10 strong to prepare yourself to the best of your ability.

A reminder if you have further questions about 2021, please contact the college.

Homegroup Activities

Homegroup has been providing some entertainment for students, some days there is riddles, other days a chat with their teachers and on Monday it’s time to make memes. Here is some so far made by year 10 students.

Need some extra help?

We know this is a difficult time for our students and hope they reach out for the supports

- Home group teacher (turn on your microphone and have a chat in the morning, they miss seeing and talking with you too!)

- Classroom teachers (email or webex if you do not understand the task or finding the workload overwhelming)

- Year Level Leaders (email or webex if you need any help and support)

- Wellbeing team (just like when we are at school, these are support you all can access)

It is important we reach out and support each other in this time, take care of yourself and take care of others. Remember to keep connected with your CESC community. Stay Safe.

Year 9 News

In the month of August, subject selections for Year 10 of 2021 was the buzz of the cohort. It was recommended for students to pursue their passions and a series of interviews took place for some students who wanted to enrol for special programs. There was a particular interest in some of the new electives such as 'From Grimm's to Disney', 'A Study of Sherlock & Shakespeare' and 'Team Sports & Leadership for Girls' just to name a few.

For the past month, our Year 9's have also been looking into ways to boost their wellbeing from home. They have been studying the benefits of mindfulness and below are a few videos that students watched to demonstrate gratefulness and resilience.
