Helping Children Stay Connected to Friends during ISO

It’s important to recognise that social distancing and remote learning doesn’t mean social isolation. There are still ways in which we can help our children stay connected with their friends and with the community.

CONNECTING ONLINE

  • Organise a catch up with friends over Zoom, Google Meet, Messenger Kids, FaceTime. (Message parent first to ask permission and use a personal adult account NOT the school account)
  • Organise a Kahoot! challenge or play Skribblo together https://skribbl.io/
  • Read a book, watch a movie, cook or play a game all while video chatting.
  • Get a group fitness challenge going.
  • Host a dance party https://www.kidsdiscos.com.au/live.html
  • Send an email or text message.
  • Make a phone call.
  • Play online games such as Prodigy Maths https://www.prodigygame.com/

CONNECTING OFF-LINE

  • Post or drop off a handwritten letter or drawing in the mailbox.
  • On your walk or bike ride leave a quick chalk message in the driveway.
  • Paint an uplifting message on a rock and leave it in the mailbox or front step.
