From the Principal
Dear Parents & Carers
We understand some of the challenges you face as we head back into Remote Learning during Stage 3 restrictions and want to let you know that we are here to help you through this.
The staff have worked diligently over the past few weeks to plan the learning around student needs, being mindful of working parents and the challenges you face in this. Whilst there is no perfect solution, we carefully analysed feedback from students, parents, staff and our wider Catholic Education community to come up with a way we believe will best meet the needs of all Queen of Peace students and family situations.
We understand that there are a variety of home situations and environments and consequently, the need for flexibility. As always, we invite you to make contact with us if needed. Remember the first point of contact for clarity is your child’s class teacher.
Although we are asking you to reinstall school in your home, we are not expecting you to be teachers. Like last time, we want you to be a parent first and simply do the best you can. Nurture your child, your family and yourself and then take up opportunities for learning together, listening and conversations. Turn up every day and don't give up. Look for fun opportunities, listen, share and find balance. Turn play into learning and learning into play.
We pray for the safety and health of all people: family members and relatives, health workers and the elderly, and all in our Queen of Peace community.
Keep safe and positive and make the values of kindness, courage, compassion, thoughtfulness and calm resilience, those that define us and our community, in this experience of Remote and Flexible Learning 2.0.
We look forward to the time when we can be all together again as the Queen of Peace learning community.
Reports 3 Way Learning Conversations
Our usual ways of working and engaging with students in Term 2 looked very different and as such we updated the Semester 1 report format to reflect the remote learning environment. The content of the Semester 1 report is reduced, with a focus on Religion, English and Maths. You would have received an indication of how your child adjusted to remote learning with reference to the Personal and Social Capability curriculum.
The Semester 1 report together with the 3 Way Learning Conversation is indicative of your child’s progress. We hope the end of year report (December) will provide a more comprehensive view of the year’s learning across all usual curriculum areas however, we will continue to be adaptable and respond to the challenges that arise during these unprecedented circumstances. We thank you for your understanding of the changes to the Semester 1 reports, as impacted by the change in learning environments in Term 2.
