VCE ECONOMICS GUEST SPEAKER

In VCE Economics we cover many topics ranging from supply and demand to behavioural economics and how people will react to certain economic stimuli.

Currently, we are studying Monetary Policy, which is how the cash and interest rates affects the economy.

To assist us in learning this topic, Josh Verlin and Jennifer Jones, the two Year 12 economics teachers, organised a lecture with RBA economist Peter Rickards. It was very nice to have someone from the Reserve Bank of Australia come and lecture us. He was able to answer many questions about Monetary Policy, as well as provide us with insight on what it is like to work for the RBA and what employment opportunities we could have. He also told us the vast process involved with deciding on the cash rate and what influences it, from a Trump vs China trade war to our very own Mining Boom. The Year 12 economics students would like to thank Peter for taking time out of his busy schedule and coming down to McKinnon to teach us about this policy.
