This is the last week of Peer Support. The Year 6 students have done a fantastic job of leading groups. In this week’s Peer Support session the children will be exploring how to join groups and how to accept others into their friendship group. The activities will give the children a chance to practise these skills, as well as how to say no in a respectful way, cope with being told no and inviting others to join them. The children will also participate in various activities and discuss how to accept the outcome of a game, no matter what it is, in a friendly way in order to maintain those friendships. Please encourage your child to discuss with you the importance of saying no to people in a respectful way so that they don’t lose friends. Also discuss with your child various options they have at school if they should find themselves without anyone to play with during break time.
Thanks to all of our Dad’s, Grandfather’s, Uncles, Carers and friends who came to our Father’s Day breakfast last Friday. It was a beautiful morning to bring in the first day of spring and it was fantastic to see so many of our families present. We hope you all had an enjoyable day on Sunday.
It was great to see so many of our new 2018 Kindergarten students attend their first Transition Day this morning. There were very few tears, but lots of happy, smiling faces.
Better late then never...
On Thursday 24 Augsut, The Armidale School hosted a Year 5 and Year 6 regional da Vinci Decathlon. The 2017 theme was 'Imagination,' so with enthusiasm, our teams entered the academic challenge ready to take on eight opposing teams each and the ten tasks ahead; Mathematics, Code Breaking, Engineering, Cartography, Art & Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, General Knowledge and Creative Producers. With equal enthusiasm, students devoured donuts and fruit for morning tea and a huge buffet lunch! The teams came away proud of their days effort with placings in several areas. Year 6: 2nd Mathematics, 3rd Creative Producers and 3rd General knowledge. Year 5: 3rd Code Breaking and 3rd Engineering.
