Year 9 Camp

Women of Strength

Year 9 Girl's Camp at the Grampians

The Girls’ Voyage Camp was an empowering experience, which gave our girls the freedom to respond to new experiences and test their emotional, physical and mental strength. When given the opportunity to take risks, they surprised themselves and each other in the best possible ways.

I feel that everyone who participated in the camp to Tandara grew as a person. Everyone constantly encouraged each other. If somebody was down or afraid, we all had each other’s back. A lot of new friendships occurred because of this. Georgia D

Everyone in my group gave everything a go and stretched their comfort zones. I have grown my relationships with people I didn't think I would. This camp brought us all together and challenged us but in the end we got a lot out of it.

Personally I really enjoyed camp. I think it was a great opportunity to do things you may only get to do once and I am glad I went. Jazzmine T

Camp was a great bonding experience because everyone was encouraging each other and supporting one another. Even though people were scared to do activities, they gave it a go and they enjoyed it. Some even overcame their fears. Rachel P

Year 9 camp would definitely be one of the most memorable experiences in my life. Five days of exhilaration, enthusiasm and excitement made each and every one of the girls grow to be encouraging, confident and strong women. If it was the solo camping, the kookaburra or the leap of faith all of us learned teamwork. Abseiling, rock climbing, high ropes and hikes were some of the challenges that people had trouble with; however, the attitude that we all carried made everyone feel comfortable. The teachers also made the environment a whole lot more fun and exciting. There was not a time where I felt I was discouraged and I felt like everyone felt the same way. Thank you all for the amazing time. I love you all.  Marcia J

The camp was honestly an amazing one-time thing. All the girls were really supportive and I noticed that everyone tried to push themselves. Our topic for camp was "Women of Strength" and I saw so many women of strength and one in particular was Hunter Strudwick as she rolled her ankle at the very top of 3km hike and her friends helped her down. Even though she was still in pain she still wanted to proceed with the camp which was so cool. On the camp I also got to get very close to all of people and this was a highlight. Alicia W

Camp was definitely an interesting and challenging experience. One thing I noticed in particular was that everyone on the camp grew and the friendships that were made on this camp are ones that will last forever. Everyone challenged themselves in one way or another and I am so proud of all of them. The whole camp is genuinely a memory I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you all.  Hunter S

I experienced things that I have never experienced before like abseiling and the leap of faith. I'm very afraid of heights, just like many people, but we all gave it a go and tried our best. I would like to thank my Voyage group for helping me challenge myself. It was great seeing everyone support and encourage each other throughout challenges. Camp was a great memory and I would like to thank all the Year 9 girls and the staff for helping to make camp memorable. Madison N

Camp was an amazing experience where each of us learnt how to push our boundaries and stretch out of our comfort zones. Due to this new friendships were created along with many different memories. Tahlia E

Year 8 Drama Focus

In the last week of Term 3 my Year 8 Drama Focus class performed the play, Hating Alison Ashley, adapted from the novel by Robin Klein.

Each member of the cast should be very proud of the effort they put into perfecting their roles. Every student committed to learning their lines and creating interesting characters.

I was particularly proud of the sense of responsibility and the outstanding teamwork that the students demonstrated throughout the page to stage process.

Huge effort Year 8s!

The Smith Family student2student Program

This year I have had the pleasure of working with fourteen dedicated and caring students who volunteered their time to support students in our wider community who were struggling with literacy. The Smith Family student2student Program matched these students with a younger student identified as being behind in their reading who could benefit from more practice.

Many in our community are aware of ‘The Endeavour Way’. It is the values we hold as a College community that we express in our interactions with others. The Endeavour Way values of Love, Courage, Forgiveness and Hope are not just for school, but for how our College community interacts with others.

Our students demonstrated Love by volunteering to help others in our wider community who didn’t have many of the privileges they themselves had.

Our students demonstrated Courage when they rang their reader 2-3 times a week, someone who was a stranger to them at the start of the term. Even when the relationship was established the home circumstances for some readers meant our students did not know the situation they were ringing into.

Our students demonstrated Forgiveness when their reader didn’t pick up the phone for a week or two, when the reading session didn’t go well, when their young reader was tired and didn’t want to take part.

Our students demonstrated Hope when they saw the God-given abilities of these young children, built a positive relationship with them and encouraged them to try and try again.

The benefits of this Program have not only impacted the young reader, but those around them. A parent of a student2student reader said “This older child has made such a massive impact on my daughter’s life that it actually brings a tear to my eye .... Her confidence now is truly remarkable!”

Thank you to the following students who volunteered their time, and their hearts, over the past few terms. You are appreciated and valued:

Leilani Carruthers, Jemma Weiss, Tenneille Barrett, Liya Reeves, Madison Neubauer, Ashleigh Hollitt, Charlotte Southern, Caiden Randolph, Hania Haider, Maegan James, Isaac Hartwig, Kalpa Chilukuru, Andreas (AJ) Kiermeier, Lily Davey.
