Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Easter blessings to all families and a very

warm welcome back. We hope you enjoyed some time relaxing with your children and ‘recharged the batteries’, ready for the new term. Term 2 is a long term and teachers have been very busy in the past week planning for a curriculum which hopes to inspire great learning and achieve long and

short term goals, so that every child has the

opportunity to experience success. I start the term by inviting you to be a part of your child’s learning journey by your involvement in the school in any way you can. You are the primary educators of your children and without your partnership it is

not possible to deliver a comprehensive

curriculum that meets your child’s needs.

Please check the dates to remember, and before you get too busy, see if you can assist in any way.

Every Easter I am reminded of the words from St Teresa of Avila who tells us that Christ now has no body on earth but ours, no hands or feet to carry on his work but ours, no way of bringing compassion into the world except through us. If we are to find the face of God in our world today it

must be in each other. That is the challenge of the Easter Season. Jesus is truly resurrected and alive in the world today when we act as his body, when we reach out to others and recognize their innate

human dignity as he once did and when we

are able to put our egos aside to put others

first and to bring them life and joy.

The Easter season continues for fifty days until Pentecost. Each year we celebrate Easter through prayer, reflection and scripture which tells us about the presence of the Risen Lord.

NAPLAN

Testing will take place for Year 3 and 5

children in mid-May (14-16 May). Please notify me in writing if you wish to withdraw your child from this testing. Reminder, testing is NOT compulsory and parents have the right to withdraw their child if they feel that the testing is causing unnecessary stress or anxiety. Children are NOT disadvantaged in any way if they do not sit these tests.

WINTER UNIFORM

The mornings are becoming increasingly cool and it is time to switch over to the Winter Uniform. As from MONDAY 20th MAY it will be compulsory for Winter Uniform to be worn. Parents are welcome

to phase in the Winter uniform from now until it becomes compulsory. Orders can be given to Margaret who will fax them and the uniform will then be delivered to school or alternatively you can go and visit the Thomastown store.

SUN SMART

Children will also be required to wear their hats until Monday 20th May. However, can I please encourage children to always have their hats at school as we don't mind if they keep wearing them.

GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL PERSON'S DAY

An invitation is extended to all grandparents and or a special person to visit children on Friday 17 May. We commence the day with Mass at 9.15am  to celebrate families and then ask our visitors to come over to school and participate in a 'show and tell' if they wish, followed by a morning tea for our visitors. Can I please ask parents to bring a plate to share. I hope to see a great attendance.

CURRICULUM NIGHT - MATHS

Advanced notice is given about a Curriculum Night for families. We will be running a series of workshops suitable for Prep to Year 6 and as many of you would be aware that it is an expectation that parents attend. Remember, when you came to enrol your child, I clearly stared that we expect you to attend these nights. The date is WEDNESDAY 22 MAY.  More information will be made available soon.  My thanks to those who will be able to attend. ( I hope it is nearly everyone!)

Have a great week, regards

Dino
