WHAT’S HAPPENING IN DANCE….LOTS!!

On Friday 19th May, the VMG Dance class had a very early start to their day and travelled to Melbourne where they took part in a Funk workshop at Chunky Move Dance Studios. Then we saw the amazing Sydney Dance Company perform their latest work called Orb at the Arts Centre, Melbourne. This performance was a double bill featuring the Dance pieces “Full Moon” and “Ocho”.

There was a question and answer session with the choreographers and performers. We all had a fantastic day!

On Tuesday 23rd May we did a workshop with Bernard who was a visiting artist to our school. He took us on a bit of a dance tour through Polynesia and the America’s where we learnt some dance moves from Samoa, Hawaii, New Zealand, South America, American Indian and North America. It was heaps of fun!

On Wednesday 24th May, our special two week program began with the Australian Ballet. 30 excited WPSC students were selected and will be learning some new skills and collaborating with the Australian Ballet to create our own dance work. This piece will be performed at a special showcase on Friday 2nd June from 1pm-2pm in the WPSC Theatrette with the other participating students from the Alliance.

Our very own Dance Showcase will be happening very soon on Tuesday 6th June, celebrating the achievements of this semester’s VMG Dance students. All are welcome to attend.
