The Three Billy Goats Gruff
In Foundation we have been working hard as structural engineers!!
In the fairytale, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ each billy goat had to cross over a river by using a bridge.
As structural engineers, children had to work in teams to construct a bridge using mega blocks, Duplo and wooden blocks. This bridge had to be strong enough and wide enough to allow a ‘my little pony’ (billy goat) to cross over the river (pencil container).
Children discussed the problem, organised their materials, tried different ideas, asked questions, tested designs, redesigned and retested until each team constructed a bridge.
Each bridge was different in size, shape and design but all teams solved the problems.
Foundation children love STEM activities. They put their maths knowledge into action, develop their oral language skills and work on a positive growth mindset whilst having fun!
Well Done Foundation! You are great bridge builders!!
