WHOLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

On Thursday the 10th of May, the whole school gathered to race in our school cross country. Anyone who jogged, walked, or ran contributed to their house points and did their best. It was a great track for people to push themselves and  for the school community to be outside. Well done to all of the students who made it to district - good luck!  Thank you to Mr Railton for organising the event, and to all of the teachers that were marshalling along the track, and all of the students and teachers that were cheering the students along.      Emily Laird and Amelia Gill 7D

YEAR 12 PE VO2 MAX TESTING

On the first day back for term 2, our year 12 Physical Education class went to Exercise Research Australia. The day comprised of a 90 minute lecture by Dr Melissa Arkinstall on Energy Systems and Fatigue Mechanisms then, 3 of our students performed some testing. Elly Byrne performed an ‘all out’ Anaerobic Capacity test and Liam Hartshorn & Alex Oosterberg both performed a V02 Max Test. All students gained valuable insights into Lab Testing and was part of their second SAC.

YEAR 9/ 10 OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMP

This year for the 9/10 Outdoor Ed Camp, our class of 19 students and 3 teachers travelled by car and ferry over to Lorne. We got up bright and early on Monday 1st May as it was an 8.30 start to the ferry. On the ferry we all enjoyed the views and catastrophic winds of Sorrento to Queenscliff.  Once we arrived in Queenscliff we drove for 80km to our destination at the Lorne life saving club. The club is located right on Lorne surf beach and just next to the vibrant town of Lorne. We were straight into the surfing experience with a surf session on the first day. The tide was all the way in shore which made it difficult to surf.  We all managed a good surf session and everyone survived the first few hours.

Day two and we had an exciting hike to look forward to. We travelled to Kalimna falls where we enjoyed the flowing streams and small waterfall.

The second destination was Castle Rock Point where we were 200 metres above sea level.  Our final hiking destination was to Swallow Cave where we got to enjoy our lunch and the lovely sounds of the fresh water waterfall.    We had a quick stop on the way home to the Erskin Falls which is a popular tourist attraction.

It was a cloudy day on the last day of camp, we woke up to the beautiful views of Lorne surf beach and finished off with a 2 hour surf session. Unfortunately we were not blessed by the wave gods and had to surf big dumping waves. Some people chose to take a boogie board but most stuck through and surfed the whole session. Over all the camp was amazing and I would love to go back and do it all again.
