Prayer:  Feast of St Pius X - 21st August

On Tuesday the Church celebrated the Feast of St Pius X. We give thanks for our patron Saint and especially the gift he made to young people through his time as Pope Pius X. It was during his papacy that children from the “age of reason” (approximately 9-10) could receive Holy Communion.

And so we pray:

Pope of the  Blessed Sacrament, teach me to love Holy Mass And Holy Communion

as the source of all grace and holiness,

And to receive this Sacrament as often as I can.

Gentle father of the poor, help me to imitate your charity toward others in word and deed.

Consoler of the suffering, help me to bear my daily problems patiently

And with perfect resignation to the will of God.

Loving Shepherd of the flock of Christ, obtain for me the grace of being a true child

of Holy Mother Church.

Saint Pius, pray for me and for those I love.

2019 Year 12 Student Leaders Elect

Congratulations to our newly announced Year 12 Student leadership team. They are an extraordinary group of young men who will do great things for our College.  All Year 12, 2019 will be invested in their leadership on 1st November in the Chatswood Concourse.

St Pius X Drought Appeal

The College is looking to support and assist the drought relief effort in a variety of ways and especially through linking with the rural community of Coonabarabran. We are looking to harness the energies and goodwill of the St Pius X College community to send out a range of foods, goods and supplies as well as funds to assist through Coonabarabran High School which is central to the towns in the heart of the NSW drought.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • By sending donations of treat food items, toiletries and stationery to the College with your sons.  Items will be collected by Year 9 students during Homeroom or they can be left at the collection point in the foyer.  These donations will be made into hampers and each hamper will include a letter from a Year 9 SPX student.
  • There will be an opportunity for Junior School parents to donate at the Father & Son Sports Day at Oxford Falls next Thursday 30th August.
  • 'A Fiver for a Farmer':  The College will also hold a lunchtime Sausage Sizzle (at a date to be confirmed) where students can purchase a drink and a sausage sandwich and all funds will go to the Drought Relief Appeal.

Further information can be found on the Social Justice page of this letter and other opportunities for donations will be made available and advised next week.

Junior School Book Parade

To celebrate Book Week the Junior School held an amazing Book Parade on Tuesday with Queen Elizabeth (Junior School Librarian Mrs Elena Martin) leading the Treasure Hunt.  Congratulations to the students and staff who embraced the theme of 'Find Your Treasure' and dressed up for the occasion in wonderful costumes.  A full report and a large photo gallery can be found on the Junior School page of this newsletter.

SAN Hospital RunForLife Event

Fifty SPX students and staff took part in the SanRunForLife event at Wahroonga on Sunday to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Jacaranda Cancer Support Centre at the SAN Hospital.  Please see Mr Quilty's report on the Student & Parent Matters page of this newsletter.
