KidsROAR
In previous newsletters I have mentioned ‘Child Safe’. I would like to touch on this topic once again.
I’m sure all parents would agree with this statement. ‘Every child has the right to feel safe’. It’s our job as parents/carers, educators and generally good humans to make sure that we assist the children in our care to always feel and be safe.
We take this topic very seriously at Oatlands and have organised for KidsROAR to visit our school; commencing on Monday August 26th and concluding on Wednesday September 11th. All classes will work with a member of KidsROAR with their teacher present. They will cover topics like safe and unsafe feelings, early warning signs, learning to say ‘NO’, identifying their personal safety team and safe and unsafe secrets.
As well as the children’s sessions KidsROAR are conducting a Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 20th August. KidsROAR will be addressing program content and strategies for parents in keeping your children safe. It would be pleasing to see a packed Library on the night. Parents can book a ticket for the evening through Compass and an Eventbrite invitation.
I have attached the PROTECT - Feeling Safe: For Primary School Students for you. Some of its content has been shared with our students already and a lot will be covered in the KidsROAR sessions. I feel that you will find the document useful and may be a good discussion starter for you and your children.
