Principal's Report

Principal - Brea Terris

Assistant Principal -Anthea Mathers

Dear Families,

Well done on a fabulous start to remote and flexible learning this week! Everyone is doing a wonderful job adjusting to this new format of teaching and learning. It has been incredibly heart warming to see the way in which our families and staff have embraced the new technologies that are enhancing the learning experiences at home for our students.  The work the children are uploading to Class Dojo is great and it is always lovely to see the photos of your children working from home. It is such a new way of working for us and we do appreciate all the positive comments and support that our families have given us as we continue to navigate through an ever changing and sometimes challenging times .

Each Friday we will have the learning packs ready for the following week.  If you need the hard copy pack for week 4, please ensure you pick it up on Friday between 10am and 2pm. After this time we will be unable to get it out to you in time for the following week.

School devices were handed out to families today and we'd like to thank our families for supporting us throughout this process. We are hoping, as families have greater access to technology, that most work will be undertaken online in time . We will continue to support families with this transition. We have allocated one device per family however, multiple Google Classroom and Class Dojo accounts can be set up. If require a device and have not yet picked it up, please call the school and make an appointment to pick it up at your earliest convenience.

Next week, we will embark on a introducing Webex Meetings to our repertoire of technology skills allowing staff and students to interact in real time. Your teacher will be sending details of how to upload Webex Meetings to your device, how to access the class meeting twice a week and the time that this will be occurring. The times will remain the same each week ensuring continuity and routine for our students. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again.

We understand there may be some teething issues initially with the use of this technology but  we appreciate that everyone has been remaining calm and that families have been demonstrating  resilience while exploring this new educational frontier.  You are a resilient bunch and we are proud of you all.

The school office is only attended on Fridays. The school phone is diverted to the school mobile if you have any queries or concerns, please call us. The mobile only has one line, if we miss your call we will call you back. Our school mobile is 0427 688 044. The phone will be attended to during business hours.

Grab and Go Lunch Packs

Our Grab and Go lunch packs has been very successful. We could not provide this service without the very kind support and donations of local businesses in our community.  We would like to sincerely thank the Pear Tree and Forever Fresh who are providing the fresh fruit, Moama Bakery who is kindly supplying the bread, The Echuca IGA and Cadell Trading who are also donating items and the Border Inn Hotel who are kindly putting the packs together for us. This is a very generous offer and as a school community, we are incredibly grateful for their support.

Please note that we will be making a change to this service from next week with only one delivery being made to each family per week instead of two.  We'd also like to also acknowledge our staff who have been kindly delivering these packs to families in their own time.

Attendance

During remote/flexible learning we need to mark the attendance rolls once a day. We ask at this stage, if you child is unwell or not able to participate in a day of learning to please contact the school mobile and report the absence. As we move to a range of different technology platforms, we will ask students to register their attendance in the morning before commencing learning.

ANZAC Day

Our school will be commemorating ANZAC Day a little differently this year. While our school is not together physically as we would normally do each year, we still want to want to pay tribute to the fallen and injured servicemen and women  who sacrificed their lives and safety to protect and serve our country.

So join us by rising early in the morning and standing at the end of your driveways with a candle or torch in hand at 6am. EDGE FM will broadcast a slightly different, pre- recorded ANZAC Service. Tune into Edge FM 102.5. Please send us photos via Facebook of your family commemorating ANZAC Day.

School Wide Positive Behaviour

School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) will continue to be a major curriculum focus while we are learning remotely. We will continue to have our weekly videos promoting the focus value and behaviour of the week. These videos will be available on Facebook, our website and also on Google Drive as well as Class Dojo for you to share with your family. You might like to make these behaviours a focus in your home for the week too. Keep an eye out for Wally the Wanderer who will be popping up from time to time providing 'Wally's Words of Wisdom" to help you get through the day.

Next week's value focus is:

Resilience: I will bounce back.

One of our goals this year is to have a ratio of 4 positives to 1 negative recorded. After analysing our data last term, we found that we are on track to achieving this goal which is pleasing with a total of 954 positives recorded in 7 weeks.

Below is the data that we collected.
