Happy Crafting!

Admittedly, I am not the most handy or talented in the arts-and-crafts area! Happily, I can appreciate some very gifted people around me – a quick look around our school shows such talents on display. The great thing about creating arts and crafts, however, is not always the product or item that is produced, but the creative process itself. Taking time to make something causes us to slow down; to ‘switch off’ the business of life and ‘tune in’ to our creative selves.

If in a group situation, we can use the time to chat and reflect whilst our hands are busy – we develop new skills and experience as we learn from our creative ‘mistakes’ as a mis-stitch or paint-spill can turn our work of art into something quite different as we go in a different direction!

I love hearing from our students about the arts and crafts skills they have learned from family members (yay grandmas!). Keep on crafting and check out some events for crafty kids – Tam
