DIVISION ATHLETICS 2019

As part of our Athletics program at NPS, and following on from our own House Athletics Day, students  may have the opportunity to compete at the next level, which will be Division Athletics in Shepparton. Selection here involves teachers monitoring and observing students efforts and achievements throughout the course of Term 3, through our weekly training sessions with Skillzone, the House Athletics Day, and then scheduled trials the previous 3 weeks leading up to the Division day on MONDAY 14th OCTOBER. Please take note of point 6 below, which states that each school may nominate one competitor for each event, e.g. - one boy, one girl, and also point 7, family cost is $10 per competitor. Please think carefully about supporting and encouraging our students here, whilst also being aware that for some events there are minimum standards (see high jump below). Before the event, I will complete the application forms for students wishing to attend and compete. The due date for these forms is Friday 20th September. Parents are responsible to transport their own child and supervise them at the Division Athletics.

Football Report Lightning Premiership

On the 16th August the NPS football team held their heads high, it was obvious that they were ready for an amazing day at Cobram.

As soon as we got to our field we started to do some warm up kicking and handballing drills.

The competition started and we were on the wet and dewy field playing our first game, which we won by three goals and a couple points. All our players showed great team work.

We lost our second game by a couple goals. However, all players gave their best effort and we never gave up.

Our last game was very interesting… we all waited for the siren to start (beep) the ball was thrown up in the air, both ruckmen hit the ball and we were under way. At half time we were down by one goal but I thought that the opposition had no energy left in them… so that’s when we showed them we are Numurkah Primary and we were there to win! And win is what we did by four goals. Even though we didn’t make the grand final we all knew we had done our best!

2019 Lightning Premiership Year 5/6 Smashers Netball Report

Swish went the net. On Friday 16th August the Year 5/6 NPS team got on the bus very happy, because they were off to Cobram to play in the Lightning Premiership. We were a bit late and missed the first game but we ended up playing that game at the end of the day.

The first game we played was against St Joseph’s Cobram and we won that game because of our great team work. The second game we played was against St Frances, Nathalia, it was a really close game. The scores were level until they got a goal in the last second. We were pretty tired and lost the last game that we played against St Joseph’s Numurkah.

Over all best on court was Bridget and Breanna for accurate goal shooting and Lily for some amazing defence. Also a big thank you to Sarah for coaching us during the day and also a big thank you to Mrs Hope for getting us ready for the Lightning Premiership. Overall, we were proud of our efforts throughout the day.

Lightning Premiership – The Blues Report!

On the 16th August, the NPS Blues Year 6 netball team went on a bus trip to Cobram. We were all excited to be going to the Lightning Premiership because we had trained for ages and it was our last Lightning Premiership! At the end of the day we were a bit disappointed because we only won one game out of three, but we soon got over it and were grateful to be there.

The schools we played against were Strathmerton, Yarrawonga and Nathalia.

We had loads of fun throughout the day.

Softball Report 16th August 2019

The NPS football, netball and softball teams played in the Lightning Premiership on the 16th August, at Cobram.

When we first arrived our team had some snacks as we had to wait 20 minutes for our first game. My team the Diamond Demons played really well in their first game and we beat our opponents by 3 home runs, at the end we shook hands and said “Good game.” Then we moved on to our next game and let me tell you, it was a hard one.

We had lunch with the other team. After that we went on to the next game and we won thanks to the big hits from Jake, Ryan and Lloyd. Jasmine was on fire in the outfield, throwing and catching the ball accurately.

The Diamond Demons won their semi-final and made it to the grand final coming runner-up. We tried our hardest during all games and we were super happy with our achievements.
