VCAL program closure

As 2022 draws to a close so too does the VCAL program. The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) was introduced in 2002 by the Victorian Education Department as an applied learning or ‘hands on’ alternative to VCE. Shortly after it’s inception the program commenced at Gisborne Secondary College.

For close to 20 years numerous Year 11 and Year 12 students have completed their VCAL at GSC.  As a college we wanted to take this moment to reflect on the significant achievements of our collective VCAL students and highlight the contributions they have made to our local community and beyond. Attached below are memories from VCAL cohorts of previous years.

While the VCAL program officially ends the new applied learning options, the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and the VCE-Vocational Major (VCE-VM), will commence in 2023. We look forward to the opportunities ahead for GSC’s applied learning students!
