Melbourne Head Regatta Results
This Saturday, our senior rowers raced in the Melbourne Head, a 4.5km race on the Yarra River. Every crew was competitive and looked fantastic, which is outstanding given that the Yarra has been in flood for most of November, limiting out senior rowers to one training session at Carrum, and one row on the Yarra the day before the event.
Our eight started the day off with their best row of the season placing 12th out of 13 in Division 3, but given their lack of experience in sweep, this was a highly competitive performance and they are right in the mix for the upcoming season based upon times and expected progression in the crew.
In the sculling events, our Open Division 1 crew won by 0.2 seconds (about 80cm), with Our Division 2 crew placing 8th, racing in Division 1, and Division 3 placing 7th in Division 2 and Division 4 placing 12th in Division 2 out of 22 starters. Impressively, this is the 3rd time in a row we have won the top division of the Melbourne Head. This year, all of the top schools raced, including the 2022 Australian Champions and Runners Up in the Open Schoolgirl Quad Scull, so we are extremely excited to win the event!

MGC Rowing Cap
A white 2XU cap with blue trim, with the MGC logo on the front, and Melbourne Girls’ College Rowing Club on the back. These are almost identical to the caps that were sold through Regatta Shop (which will be delivered very soon) and were recently found in a storeroom in perfect condition. 100% of the proceeds will go to the rowing program as these hats have already been paid for by the program.
